In partnership with the D.C. Housing Authority, A&R is transforming a former “retail desert” in Southeast Washington by developing a $120 million mixed-used town center featuring 312 affordable housing units, 20,000 square feet of retail space and a Walmart super center.
A&R was able to secure zoning approval in a fraction of the time that it typically takes, accelerating delivery for the individuals who will live, work and play in Capitol Gateway.
Once complete, the 11-acre site blends housing, retail and open space to provide people with a wide range of accommodations and easy access to the metro station and East Capitol Street, a gateway thoroughfare for the City.
